Margarita -- The Pearl

Ingredients:

50% tequila

25% Triple Sec or Cointreau

25% fresh lime or lemon juice

Rub the rim of the glass with the lime slice to make the salt stick to it. Shake the other ingredients with ice, then carefully pour into the glass (taking care not to dislodge any salt). Garnish and serve over ice.

The Sun Also Rises- Jack Rose

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz apple brandy

1 tsp grenadine syrup

juice of 1/2 limes

Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.

The simplest explanation of the name is the fact that it is made with applejack and is rose colored from the grenadine.

Martini -- The Perfect American Invention

Ingredients:

2 1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1 green olive or lemon twist for garnish

Traditionally stirrred into a chilled glass, garnished, and served straight up.

The Origin:

The first martini – or martini-like drink – was poured sometime between 1862 and 1871 and was called a Martinez, a name to honor the humble town of Martinez, California, where it was purportedly first dreamed up by bartender Julio Richelieu, proprietor of the eponymous Julio Richelieu Saloon.

The Variations:

Dirty Martini- replace vermouth with olive brine

Diamond Martini- replace gin with premium grain vodka, frozen

Perfect Martini- equal portion of sweet and dry vermouth

The Manhattan - A Drinking Man's Cocktail

Ingredients:

3/4 oz sweet vermouth

2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey

1 dash Angostura bitters

1 maraschino cherry

1 twist orange peel

The mother of Winston Churchill, Jenny Jerome, was attending a banquet in honour of the election win by Samuel J.Tilden in November of 1874, it was during this banquet that the Manhattan was created.

Let's Start with Bloody Mary!

Ingredients
2 parts vodka
3 parts tomato juice
Ground salt and pepper
6 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
5 drops Tabasco
1 tsp. celery salt
1 tsp. horseradish
Dash of lemon or lime juice
Dash of orange juice
May be shaken vigorously or stirred lazily, as desired. Garnish with a celery stalk; a skewer of olives, pickles, carrots, mushrooms, or other vegetables; or even meat and cheese
